What is a long hex bolt?
A long hex bolt has a standard six-sided head and a long shank that is threaded only part of the way. The plain section takes shear load through thick assemblies, so long bolts are used as through-bolts for engine mounts, axles and stacked parts.
Typical uses
- Engine mounts
- Axles and swing arms
- Through-bolting thick assemblies
Long Hex Bolt FAQ
Why is the bolt only partly threaded?
The smooth shank sits in the hole where the load is carried, which is stronger and more accurate than a thread in that position.
Which finishes are offered?
Long hex bolts are supplied in zinc and black finishes; other finishes can be quoted.
How do I get a price?
